PuriLens Plus Preservative-Free Saline Solution

Gentle, pH-Balanced, Preservative-Free Saline for All Contact Lenses

PuriLens Plus Preservative-Free Saline Solution is an FDA-approved, pH-balanced, sterile solution designed to provide superior comfort, hydration, and clarity for contact lens wearers. This preservative-free formula is free from chlorhexidine, thimerosal, and other mercury-containing compounds, making it safe for sensitive eyes. It is widely used for rinsing soft, rigid gas permeable (RGP), and scleral contact lenses before insertion, as well as for cleaning lens cases.

PuriLens Plus has been a trusted choice for over 20 years and remains one of the most cost-effective buffered preservative-free saline solutions available today.

Key Benefits

PuriLens Plus is preservative-free and pH-balanced to match natural tears, ensuring gentle hydration for sensitive eyes. It is FDA-approved for use as an insertion solution for scleral lenses and is effective for rinsing soft, RGP, and hard contact lenses before insertion. The solution enhances lens comfort and clarity while preventing irritation.

This product has remained a leading choice since 2015 when it became the go-to replacement for Unisol 4. It is one of the most economical buffered preservative-free salines available, making it a popular choice for those who frequently rinse their lenses.

Available Sizes & Package Options

PuriLens Plus is available in three different size and package options:

  • 4oz (120mL) Bottles

    • Box of 3
    • Box of 12
    • Box of 24
  • 2oz (60mL) Bottles

    • Box of 6

How to Use PuriLens Plus Solution

Rinsing Contact Lenses

  • After lens disinfection, rinse lenses thoroughly with PuriLens Plus before insertion.
  • Hold the lens between your forefinger and thumb and direct a steady stream of PuriLens Plus onto the lens for ten seconds.

Using as an Insertion Solution for Scleral Lenses

  • Fill the bowl of the scleral lens with PuriLens Plus before insertion. Consult your doctor regarding how long the solution remains sterile after opening.

Rinsing Contact Lens Cases

  • Use PuriLens Plus to rinse contact lens cases to maintain sterility.

Daily Use for Comfort

  • PuriLens Plus may also be used throughout the day to rinse lenses and refresh eyes.

Discard any remaining solution 14 days after opening to maintain sterility and safety.

How to Open the Bottle

  1. Remove the cap and discard the white plastic restraining ring. The ring is included to prevent punctures during shipping and is not attached to the bottle.
  2. Turn the cap clockwise to pierce the container.
  3. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to prevent contamination.
  4. Reclose the bottle after each use.

Safety & Warnings

  • For external use only. Not for injection.
  • Do not reuse solution. Discard after 14 days.
  • Never transfer saline solution to another container.
  • Do not store lenses in water or any non-sterile solution.
  • Avoid contamination by keeping the bottle tip clean.
  • Use before the expiration date printed on the bottle.

Potential Adverse Reactions

If you experience any of the following issues, remove your lenses and consult your eye care provider immediately:

  • Eye stinging, burning, or itching
  • Excessive watering of the eyes
  • Unusual eye secretions
  • Redness, blurred vision, or discomfort
  • Sensitivity to light (photophobia)

These symptoms could indicate a more serious condition such as infection, corneal ulcer, neovascularization, or iritis. Seek medical attention immediately if symptoms persist.

PuriLens Plus vs. Other Saline Options

If you're considering alternatives, here’s how PuriLens Plus compares:

  • ScleralFil – A borate-buffered saline in 10mL single-use vials.
  • Nutrifill – A phosphate-buffered saline with added electrolytes.
  • Unbuffered Salines – LacriPure, VibrantVue, and Addipak are options for users needing an alternative formula.

PuriLens Plus remains one of the most affordable and effective buffered saline solutions available today, making it an excellent choice for frequent lens rinsing.

Upgrade your contact lens care with PuriLens Plus Saline Solution – Trusted for over 20 years for superior hydration, clarity, and comfort.

Having used Unisol for years as it was the only contact lens solution that didn't cause me eye infections, I was lost when it went off the market... until I found Purilens! I am 100% satisfied with this product and will continue to use it as long as it's available!
